Robyn The Anthem - D.C. Concert reviews
Witness the Tour - Disappointing
I love her videos, and many of her songs. I think she is cute and talented, but edgy. When I heard she was coming in concert, I jumped at the chance to take 4 of my nieces as well as my sisters and sister-in-law. I have all of her albums and had never seen her in concert before. I loved her performance at the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
I am not crazy about her Witness album, but like a few of the songs. Five minutes into the concert, I was hopeful that the old Robyn would still shine through and concerned that the tone set during the first song with the goofy costumes and lack of passion in her singing would show up in other songs throughout the concert. Halfway into the concert, I was surprised and disappointed that the performance and costumes for each song seemed a little tackier than the last. There were only two songs that felt as if she put a lot of passion and soul into her voice and her singing. I wish that Robyn and the concert producers would have put more effort into performing and singing each song and less focus into the over-the-top theatrics for the stage show. I am still a Robyn fan and love her first couple of albums, but would not recommend this particular tour.
